In the past years, physical fitness was attributed only to workers whose jobs required high muscular and cardiovascular endurance such as the members of armed forces. However, this phenomenon has changed across time. The change began with the modern era and high technology started to improve the quality of life.
It is very alarming to find out that in the modern world, problems related to the growing number of epidemics, high mortality rates and short life spans, are taking their toll in third world disease-stricken countries.
These problems have propelled different organizations to launch programs encouraging people from all over the world to practice healthier lifestyles. It is hoped that this will lead them to become more resistant to disease epidemics. The massive response to this problem indicates that people from everywhere are taking seriously the importance of physical fitness.
