Golfer's Elbow

Very soon now it will be time to play golf again. Golfer's elbow, or tennis elbow, can suddenly start up. This condition plagues many a racquet player and golfer, both amateur and professional. Although most common in these sports, the problem can occur when anyone uses the arm excessively. It is basically an inflammation of the tissues in the elbow area.

In tennis elbow it involves the muscles and tendons that bend back (extend) the wrist and fingers. This large group of muscles starts from a very small area of the bone. When the forces become greater than the strength of the muscles, the problem begins. The pain occurs on the outside of the elbow.

The same thing happens with golfer's elbow except it is the muscles that flex the wrist and fingers that are involved. This pain is on the inside of the elbow.

  1. Golfer’s elbow injury is one of the most dreaded injuries as it involves a joint and the injury takes long time to heal. The sharp pain may last longer. Consult Dr. Michael Peterson at Back and Neck Pain Treatment Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
